The municipality covers an area of 4 km². With a difference of 130 meters between the highest (597 m above sea level) and the lowest point (468 m above sea level), Bettenhausen is a typical Mittelland municipality. In addition to agriculture, there are several craft and commercial enterprises.
Geography: Bettenhausen is located at 480 m above sea level, 2 km south-southeast of Herzogenbuchsee and 7 km southwest of the city of Langenthal (as the crow flies).
Population: With 642 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2020), Bettenhausen is one of the smaller communities in the canton of Bern.
Education: Under the name "Bettenhausen - Ochlenberg - Thörigen School", the association runs the school entry level with basic level classes at three locations. The three locations are the school complexes Bettenhausen, Neuhaus (municipality of Ochlenberg) and Thörigen.
