The Chiasso railway station is located in the political municipality of Chiasso (district of Mendrisio), located in the south of the Canton of Ticino, and is the most important and southern border station between Switzerland and Italy at a national level.

FFS SA is taking care of the renovation of the Chiasso FFS station for a total investment of 10 million Swiss francs. The completion of the construction site is scheduled for summer-autumn 2023, as well as the first deliveries of commercial surfaces are already planned for spring-summer 2023. Various administrative and commercial offices are located in the building, such as an AVEC Convenience Shop open 7 days out of 7, a snack bar and the SBB Travel Center in a completely new guise.

In recent years, the Chiasso FFS station sector has been undergoing various improvement and redevelopment interventions, such as for example the construction of the new bus terminal and the new station square, which provides for the official commissioning during the 1st semester of the 2022.
