Welcome to Herzogenbuchsee

Herzogenbuchsee (Bern German: Herzogebuchsi, called Buchsi by the locals) is a municipality in the Oberaargau administrative district of the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
The municipality has around 7,350 inhabitants, distributed across 3,330 households (as of 2021).
The municipality covers an area of 985 hectares, of which 345 hectares are forest. Herzogenbuchsee lies at an altitude of 465 metres above sea level on the railway line that connects it with Bern-Olten-Basel-Zurich.
Traffic
The old Bern-Zurich road runs through the village. This road has lost importance as a long-distance connection since the construction of the A1 motorway eight kilometers to the northwest (exit in Wangen a. A.). The other centers that can be reached most quickly by private motorized transport are: Langenthal (8 km), Solothurn (16 km), Burgdorf (20 km) or Bern (38 km).
Geographical location
The streets that connect Herzogenbuchsee with the surrounding area intersect at Sonnenplatz. Sonnenplatz with the village fountain and Kirchgasse, which offers a view of the church, form the heart of the village. Here you will find the community center with the fresco by Cuno Amiet, the granary with the sundial, the "Hotel du Soleil" with its elegantly French name, and the guest house at the Cross.
From here the village extends to the borders of the neighboring villages of Graben, Heimenhausen, Niederönz, Bettenhausen, Thörigen, Seeberg, Aeschi and up to the municipal area of Thunstetten.
